Architecture Asia is pleased to launch the Architecture Asia Awards for Emerging Architects to recognise the best works of young Architects in Asia. The Awards aim to promote the works of emerging architects in Asia, to provide a platform for discourse on emerging architecture in Asia, and to establish a contemporary reference for Asian architecture. Entries will be judged on their creativity, sustainability, and contribution to the advancement of architectural design and architectural technology in Asia.
 
Architecture Asia Awards for Emerging Architects are organised by Architecture Asia under the auspices of Malaysian Institute of Architects and Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA), in association with the Malaysian Institute of Architects’ annual Datum:KL International Architectural Design Conference. Architecture Asia is published by Malaysian Institute of Architects as the official publication of ARCASIA.
 
ELIGIBILITY
The Architecture Asia Awards for Emerging Architects are open to all architects professionally registered in Asia, and are 45 years or younger in 2014. Entrants may be individuals, or employees or members of partnerships, companies, or collaborative groups – with confirmation from their partnerships, companies, or collaborators that the entry is the work of the entrant. Entries must be works completed after 2009, in or out of Asia. One entrant may submit more than one entry, but every entry must be registered and submitted separately.
The jury will decide on the categories from the entries received, which may include but not limited to: master plans, new and refurbished buildings or extensions, new and refurbished interiors, infrastructures, urban design, temporary structures, portable installations, exhibition and theatrical works, etc.
 
REGISTRATION
Each entry must be registered online, to receive an entry number for submission. Registration fee is USD100 for each entry. All entrants, as a condition of registration, must agree to be bound by the rules of the Awards. Entrants and their entries will be disqualified for disregarding any of the rules of the Awards. Registration fees will not be refunded. By registering, all entrants acknowledge that Architecture Asia reserves the right to reproduce and authorise others to reproduce their entry materials, in whole or in part, in any media, and for all purposes related to the promotion of the Awards’ winners and entries, without payment to any party for copyright. Architecture Asia will not accept responsibility for any incomplete registration or submission.

SUBMISSION
Submission for Architecture Asia Awards for Emerging Architects must be done online, and will not require any hard copies.
The submission of each entry must consist of three (3) A2-size digital boards in horizontal/landscape format, containing photographs, drawings and descriptions of the entry.
All primary information on the digital boards must be in English.
Each digital board must contain at the bottom right corner: the title, location and country of the entry as registered, and the entry number followed by the board number, as follow:

There must not be any other mark or identification on the boards.
Each digital board must be saved as a JPEG file of not less than 300dpi, and be named after the entry number followed by the board number. For example: 123-1.jpg, 123-2.jpg and 123-3.jpg
Entrants must manage the individual file size of each digital board according to the capacity of their local internet infrastructure, for the ease of uploading during online submission.
 
JUDGING
Judging will be chaired by Editor-in-chief of Architecture Asia, and the Jury will consist of selected eminent architects, speakers and presenters to Datum:KL International Architectural Design Conference 2014. Thirty entries will be shortlisted for final judging during Datum:KL International Architectural Design Conference 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, and these finalists will have the opportunity to deliver an optional short presentation to the Jury during Datum:KL in Kuala Lumpur, on their own expense. Ten  winners will receive the inaugural Architecture Asia Awards for Emerging Architects 2014. Presentation of certificates to all finalists and trophies to the winners will be held during Datum:KL International Architectural Design Conference 2014 in Kuala Lumpur. The jury may shortlist less or more finalists, or decides on less or more winners; and may also award special mentions to commendable entries. The jury’s decision is final. The shortlisted entries will be exhibited online after the announcement of the finalists, and during Datum:KL International Architectural Design Conference 2014 in Kuala Lumpur. Winners and finalists will also be featured in a 2014 issue of Architecture Asia.

26 March 2014 – Closing of submission at 11.59 p.m. local time at Kuala Lumpur
17 April 2014 – Announcement of finalists
27 June 2014 – Final judging and presentation of awards certificates to the finalists in Kuala Lumpur
28 June 2014 – Announcement and presentation of Architecture Asia Awards for Emerging Architects to the winners at Datum:KL 2014 in Kuala Lumpur
Architecture Asia as the organizer reserves the right to revise the schedule.
