Studio Aither recently completed the “Enamel” project. The office created a new beauty salon with a caracteristic mint-hued interior, in the city of Thessaloniki. Onyx, travertine, chestnut veneer and handmade tiles are some of the numerous materials that are combined, originating a space with rich texture that evokes the senses in a unique way.

Onyx, travertine and chestnut veneer are some of the materials used in this mint-hued interior for Enamel beauty salon.
The intention was to create a space that can be experienced as a blend of surfaces and textures thought its rich materiality.

A bespoke chunky counter made of onyx and travertine dominates the center of the space while the side wall accommodates a display shelf that appears to be sculpted from the plaster wall.

The joinery enclosed by the shelving sets the tone with its irregular shapes while the composition is completed by adding layers of onyx, finger tiles and taupe mirror. This side of the space is rendered with marmorino plaster in mint hues while the rest of the vertical surfaces are richly textured with handmade tiles and cream-colored sand paint. On the opposite side the reception area is bright and inviting with tactile tiles and irregular shapes meant to evoke the senses.
Adjoining the reception a ceiling-to-floor minty velvet curtain veils all utility areas as well as the powder room. An artificial skylight takes over the center of the large ceiling providing the space with what appears to be subtle natural light. The back of the store accommodates the seating area for pedicure treatments which is adorned with handmade tiles and furnished with boucle-fabric armchairs.
The juxtaposision of this variety of tonal hues and textural finishes intends to render a bold yet calming lounge-like esthetic to the space.

This beauty salon besides the wellness services that it offers, attemps to immerse its guests into an appeasing sensory experience.
