NEAR (Network of Architecture) is an agency specialized in architecture, urban design and interior design that moved its first steps in 2001 as a collaboration between Cristiano Lippa, Fabiano Micocci and Lorenzo Scarpetti, all of them graduated at Roma Tre University.
During the years each of them got different experiences in many countries like Italy, USA, Japan, Greece, Netherland, Lebanon, that has offered the opportunity to develop an innovative organization of the office based on a network that works as an open platform to exchange knowledge and ideas. Today NEAR architecture has headquarters in Athens and Rome.
The office deals with design at different scales and various typologies, among them: urban planning, landscape, public spaces, housing and public buildings, interior and furniture design.
Every project starts from an accurate study of the context and the program requirements to development a synergy with the client, accordingly to the budget and available resources. The office’s structure is to propose a clear and functional design project, with a product with a design high quality.
NEAR architecture follows this approach from the beginning of the design process to the end until the construction fase.
The team professional skills are coupled with a strong interest in research and the production of theory, developed through teaching, writing, installations and experimentations.
The practice won prizes at several international competitions and in 2013 was selected among the best young offices in Italy for the New Italian Blood Prize, section landscape architecture. Among many activities, NEAR architecture is building a square in Rome and some renovation projects.
