Amidst a tendency to overdesign and over prescribe ways to experience, view or inhabit a building or a space the talk will present works and projects across the realm of architecture, design and public art that define the interest of the Studio, challenging preconceived notions of interaction within a space and how elements of informality, surprise and play are tools to extend ideas beyond the required and into unknown fields of creativity and program.

About Leonidas Trampoukis

Leonidas is cofounder of LOT office for architecture and Objects of Common Interest with Studios in New York and Athens. He holds a Master of Science in Architecture from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation in New York and a Diploma of Architecture from Aristotle Polytechnic University in Greece.

Priorly Leonidas was project leader at the offices of Fernando Romero in New York and Mexico City and SOM New York office leading multicultural projects worldwide.

 Under a dual identity Leonidas Trampoukis with Eleni Petaloti operate both as LOT and Objects of Common Interest Studio within the realm of architecture, art and design, blending projects in scale from objects and installations to interactive immersive environments, interior spaces, and architecture sharing common vision in flowing seamlessly through interdisciplinary practices focusing on strong concepts that blur the boundaries between the artistic and the pragmatic, between form and abstraction, merging their strong backgrounds in architecture and art.

LOT was selected for the 2014 Wallpaper* Architects Directory, the iconic magazine’s list of the best emerging architectural talent from around the globe and won the 2012 Greek Architecture Domes Award for the best project of the years 2009-2011, while OoCI was included in the 2019 American Design Hotlist, the list of the top 20 names in American design.

Work has been widely featured in press including the New York Times T Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, T Magazine, Wallpaper*, Elle Decor, Surface Magazine, Architectural Digest, FRAME and PHAIDON publishers and presented in exhibitions, such as the Venice Architecture Biennale, Greek Architecture Biennale, and the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
