The house is located in the northeast corner of the island of Zakynthos, Greece, in the summer village Ammoudi that means sandy beach and it is named after the small beach in front of the site.
The plot has unlimited view to the sea to the east and is densely planted, especially at its boundaries, with trees and vines creating a private garden.
The design is focused on integrating the building into the surrounding landscape of low vegetation, vineyards and olive trees, whilst ensuring that all significant areas of the house open up to the sea view. The house is composed of three low volume sections which integrate parts of the garden and follow the gentle natural slope of the site.
The main-central volume, which accommodates the living-communal areas, opens out through the large glazed screens to the sea and the stepped garden on the east and to the courtyard and the olive garden on the west. The internal spaces are visually extended with the construction of the pergolas. The transparency of the parallel glazed surfaces, which occupy the entire height of the space, strengthens the visual penetrability and eliminates the boundaries between the interior and the exterior. The visual extension of the interior spaces is repeated by the stepped volumes of the sleeping areas.
All internal living areas can be converted into a large outdoor covered space when the sliding glass panels are opened. Indoor and outdoor, shaded or open spaces constitute three unities in relation to the functions of the house, to the expression of the degree of privacy and orientation.
The colors and the fragrances of the garden, the sound of the sea and the changes of the natural light constitute integral part of the house features which contribute to the pleasure of living it.

Η μονοκατοικία βρίσκεται στο ΒΑ τμήμα της Ζακύνθου, στον οικισμό Αμμούδι που πήρε το όνομά του από την μικρή αμμουδερή παραλία μπροστά από το οικόπεδο. Το οικόπεδο έχει απρόσκοπτη θέα στη θάλασσα ανατολικά και είναι πυκνοφυτεμένο, ιδιαίτερα στα όρια του, με δένδρα και αμπέλια, που δημιουργούν έναν εσωτερικό κήπο.
Η εναρμόνιση του σπιτιού με το μικροπεριβάλλον του οικοπέδου, με την χαμηλή βλάστηση, τα αμπέλια και τις ελιές και η θέα της θάλασσας καθόρισαν τις σχεδιαστικές επιλογές: μια λιτή σύνθεση με χαμηλούς όγκους, που ακολουθούν την φυσική απαλή κλίση του εδάφους, ανοίγεται στη θάλασσα και ενσωματώνει τμήματα του κήπου. Στεγασμένοι και υπαίθριοι χώροι αντιμετωπίζονται ως μια αδιάκοπτη ενότητα.
Οι χώροι διημέρευσης (καθιστικό, τραπεζαρία, κουζίνα) οργανώνονται στον κεντρικό όγκο του σπιτιού. Σε συνέχεια τους η ανατολική πέργκολα οριοθετεί έναν σκεπαστό υπαίθριο χώρο, βεράντα, που λειτουργεί ισότιμα με το εσωτερικό καθιστικό που μετατρέπεται σ ένα μεγάλο ημιυπαίθριο όταν ανοίξουν τα συρόμενα υαλοστάσια. Η διαφάνεια των μεγάλων ανοιγμάτων του σπιτιού , που καταλαμβάνουν όλο το ύψος, αναιρεί τα όρια μεταξύ εσωτερικού και εξωτερικού χώρου.
Με αντίστοιχη λογική διαμορφώνονται και οι χώροι των υπνοδωματίων. Στεγασμένοι ή ανοιχτοί χώροι αποτελούν τρεις ενότητες σε σχέση με τις λειτουργίες του σπιτιού, την έκφραση και διαβάθμιση της ιδιωτικότητας και τον προσανατολισμό.
Τα χρώματα και οι μυρωδιές του κήπου, ο ήχος της θάλασσας, και η εναλλαγή του φωτός αποτελούν αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι της απόλαυσης που δημιουργεί η κατοίκηση του σπιτιού στους ενοίκους του.
