Mediterranean Living celebrates the warmth, light, and timeless elegance of homes along the Mediterranean coast. From sun-drenched interiors to landscapes that merge indoors and out, each residence in this series embodies a harmony of natural materials, fluid spaces, and effortless connection to its surroundings—capturing the essence of Mediterranean life.
Located on an uninhabited peninsula in Meganisi, Lefkada, Euthea by Ateno Architecture Studio introduces the site’s first architectural presence through a low-impact, landscape-led approach with expansive sea views. Embedded into the terrain, the stone-clad residence is concealed beneath a planted roof, proposing a contemporary Mediterranean living model shaped by environmental sensitivity, climatic responsiveness and minimal disruption to the surrounding ecosystem.

Located on a remote peninsula in Lefkas’ Meganisi, Euthea emerges within a landscape defined exclusively by the sea, sunlight, and native Mediterranean vegetation. As the first architectural intervention on the site, the residence adopts a restrained and environmentally sensitive approach.
Through its careful integration within the landscape, the project establishes a quiet dialogue with its untouched surroundings while proposing a thoughtful model for future development on the island.
The project is carefully embedded within the natural terrain. A subtle manipulation of the topography generates an elongated shaded incision that accommodates the core functions of daily living.

Protected beneath a roofscape fully covered with vegetation and oriented toward expansive sea views, the residence maintains a deliberately low visual impact, becoming perceptible primarily from the water and distant viewpoints.
Materiality plays a central role in reinforcing this discreet architectural presence. Local stone cladding and earthy tonalities allow the structure to merge seamlessly with the peninsula’s rugged textures and chromatic palette, blurring the distinction between architecture and landscape.
The intervention reads less as an imposed volume and more as a natural continuation of the terrain itself.

Internally, the spatial organization unfolds linearly along the coastline, allowing each space to function as a framed threshold toward the horizon. Movement through the residence becomes a gradual spatial promenade shaped by shifting light conditions, framed sea views, and uninterrupted visual continuity with the surrounding environment.
Common areas transition naturally into private quarters, creating an atmosphere defined by calmness, introspection, and proximity to nature.
The surrounding site remains intentionally untouched, preserving the raw character of the peninsula and allowing native vegetation to envelop the built intervention.
By minimizing alterations to the existing ecosystem, the project prioritizes coexistence with the landscape rather than transformation of it.
Through its understated architectural language, Euthea redefines contemporary Mediterranean living as an experience rooted in spatial restraint, and sensory connection to place.
The residence demonstrates how architecture can inhabit a fragile landscape with precision and humility, establishing a meaningful balance between habitation, topography, and the enduring presence of the natural world.
