Η διπλωματική εργασία του Στυλιανού Τριανταφύλλου με τίτλο Athens All City προτείνει ένα οραματικό μοντέλο για μια μελλοντική Αθήνα ως ενιαίο, διασυνδεδεμένο μητροπολιτικό σύστημα, όπου κατοίκηση, υποδομές, μεταφορές και δημόσιος χώρος συνυπάρχουν σε μια συλλογική αστική εμπειρία. Επανερμηνεύοντας την πολυκατοικία, την Αγορά και τον υπάρχοντα ιστό, το έργο συνδυάζει οικολογία, συμμετοχή και αφηγηματική αρχιτεκτονική σε μια σύγχρονη αστική ουτοπία. Επιβλέπων καθηγητής της εργασίας ήταν ο Michael Angus, και παρουσιάστηκε το 2021 στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Strathclyde.
Η Αthens All City φαντάζεται μια μελλοντική Αθήνα μεταμορφωμένη σε ένα συνεχές αστικό τοπίο, όπου οι υποδομές, η κατοίκηση, οι μεταφορές και η δημόσια ζωή αποτελούν μέρη ενός ενιαίου διασυνδεδεμένου συστήματος.
Το έργο προτείνει μια νέα σχέση ανάμεσα στον πολίτη και την πόλη, όπου η αρχιτεκτονική δεν λειτουργεί πλέον ως σύνολο απομονωμένων αντικειμένων αλλά ως συλλογικό πλαίσιο καθημερινής ζωής.
Η σημερινή Αθήνα παρουσιάζεται ως μια πόλη αντιθέσεων. Τα αρχαία μνημεία συνυπάρχουν με την πυκνή πολυκατοικία, τους κατακερματισμένους δημόσιους χώρους, τις εγκαταλελειμμένες υποδομές και την άναρχη αστική ανάπτυξη. Αντί να αντιμετωπίζονται ως αποτυχίες, αυτές οι συνθήκες ερμηνεύονται ως ευκαιρίες για τη δημιουργία μιας νέας αστικής πραγματικότητας.
Εμπνευσμένη από το δημοκρατικό πνεύμα της αρχαίας Αγοράς, η πρόταση εισάγει μια μεγαδομή που επανασυνδέει την πόλη χωρικά και κοινωνικά.
Υπερυψωμένες διαδρομές, συστήματα μεταφοράς, δημόσιοι κήποι, κατοικίες, πολιτιστικές λειτουργίες και συλλογικές πλατφόρμες ενώνονται σε ένα συνεχές αστικό δίκτυο πάνω από τον υπάρχοντα ιστό.
Η Αθηναϊκή πολυκατοικία επαναπροσδιορίζεται ως ένα αρθρωτό αστικό στοιχείο ενταγμένο σε έναν μεγαλύτερο μητροπολιτικό οργανισμό. Οι ταράτσες γίνονται κήποι, οι σταθμοί μεταφοράς χώροι συνάντησης και τα δίκτυα κίνησης υπερυψωμένοι περίπατοι που συνδέουν τις γειτονιές.
Μέσα από χειροποίητα σχέδια, αποσπασματικές προοπτικές και αφηγηματικές αστικές εικόνες, το έργο εξερευνά την αρχιτεκτονική όχι μόνο ως κατασκευή αλλά και ως αφήγηση.
Τα σχέδια παρουσιάζουν μια πόλη όπου η μνημειακότητα συνυπάρχει με την καθημερινή ζωή, η οικολογία ενσωματώνεται στην πυκνότητα και η συλλογική ταυτότητα δημιουργείται μέσα από την κοινή αστική εμπειρία.
Η Αthens All City προτείνει μια σύγχρονη αστική ουτοπία για την Αθήνα: ένα ζωντανό δίκτυο όπου δημόσιος χώρος, οικολογία, συμμετοχή και υποδομές ενώνονται σε ένα νέο όραμα συλλογικής μητροπολιτικής ζωής.

Stylianos Triantafyllou’s diploma thesis, Athens All City, proposes a visionary model for a future Athens as a unified, interconnected metropolitan system, where housing, infrastructure, mobility, and public space converge into a collective urban experience. Reinterpreting the Athenian polykatoikia, the ancient Agora, and the existing urban fabric, the project combines ecology, participation, and narrative architecture to envision a contemporary urban utopia. Supervised by Michael Angus, the thesis was presented in 2021 at the University of Strathclyde.
Αthens All City imagines a future Athens transformed into a continuous civic landscape where infrastructure, housing, transportation, and public life become part of one interconnected urban system.
The project proposes a new relationship between the citizen and the city, where architecture no longer operates as isolated objects but as a collective framework for everyday life.
Athens today exists as a city of contradictions. Ancient monuments coexist with dense apartment blocks, fragmented public spaces, abandoned infrastructures, and chaotic urban expansion. Instead of treating these conditions as failures, the project interprets them as opportunities capable of generating a new urban reality.
Αthens All City proposes an optimistic vision in which density becomes interaction, circulation becomes public space, and infrastructure becomes architecture.
Inspired by the democratic spirit of the ancient Agora, the proposal introduces a megastructure that reconnects the city both physically and socially. Elevated pathways, transportation systems, public gardens, housing units, cultural programs, and collective platforms merge into a continuous urban network suspended above the existing city fabric. The proposal transforms infrastructure from a purely functional system into a civic landscape designed for encounter, participation, and collective experience.
The typical Athenian polykatoikia is reimagined as a modular urban component integrated into a larger metropolitan organism. Roofs become accessible gardens, transit stations evolve into gathering spaces, and circulation networks become elevated promenades connecting neighborhoods across Athens. The city is no longer experienced as fragmented pieces but as a continuous public environment capable of adaptation and growth.
Through hand drawings, fragmented perspectives, and narrative urban scenes, the project explores architecture not only as construction but also as storytelling.
The drawings portray a city where monumentality coexists with everyday life, where ecology integrates with density, and where collective identity emerges through shared urban experience.
Αthens All City ultimately proposes a contemporary urban utopia for Athens: a living civic network where public space, ecology, participation, and infrastructure merge into a new vision for collective metropolitan life.
