To εικαστικό σχήμα  COMOTIRIO  των Νάιρα Στεργίου και Εριφύλη Βενέρη εγκαινιάζει δύο γλυπτικές εγκαταστάσεις στο ΑΚ 38 με τίτλο “Ο τάφος του Ινδού”

Το 1959 κυκλοφορεί η ταινία του Γερμανού σκηνοθέτη Fritz Lang „Das Indische Grabmal / The Indian Tomb”. Το 1955 ο Μάνος Χατζηδάκις γράφει το τραγούδι «Ιλισσός». Πώς τον λέν‘, πώς τον λέν‘ τον ποταμό, σ’ αγαπώ, σ’ αγαπώ (το μικρό μου μυστικό). Στις 19 Μαρτίου του 1960 εγκαινιάζεται το κλειστό γήπεδο της Λεωφόρου, το πρώτο κλειστό γυμναστήριο που κατασκευάστηκε στην Ελλάδα, γνωστό ως «Τάφος Του Ινδού». Στις 17 Μαρτίου 461 μ.χ πεθαίνει ο Άγιος Πατρίκιος έχοντας ταυτίσει το τριφύλλι με την Τριαδικότητα. Από τον 1ο αι. το τριφύλλι συνδέεται με την τύχη και ο Παναθηναϊκός το υιοθετεί ως έμβλημα από το 1918. Το 2024 ο Ιλισσός κυλάει ακόμα κάτω από τη Λεωφόρο, με πρασινάδες και πουλιά να κατακλύζουν την καλά θαμμένη κοίτη του.

Την ίδια χρονιά και σε ξέφρενους ρυθμούς Bollywood, το COMOTIRIO, πιστό στην υπογράμμιση χώρων με ιστορικό φορτίο μέσα από τη σύζευξή τους με καλλιτεχνικά δρώμενα, συνδιαλέγεται με τον αστικό μύθο του κλειστού γηπέδου και της ευρύτερης περιοχής.

Με δύο γλυπτικές εγκαταστάσεις μεικτών μέσων αναδεικνύει αθέατα στοιχεία του υπόγειου σταδίου, το οποίο πήρε το προσωνύμιό του «Τάφος Του Ινδού» από τις σκηνές της ομώνυμης ταινίας: λόγω της στενότητας, των επιπέδων και της απότομης κατηφορικής σκάλας θύμιζε την κατακόμβη του φιλμ.

Το COMOTIRIO είναι το εικαστικό σχήμα των Νάιρα Στεργίου και Εριφύλη Βενέρη. Το σχήμα κινείται γύρω από τις θεματικές της σκηνοθετημένης εμπειρίας, της μυθοπλασίας, του καλλωπισμού και της Ομορφιάς. Κύρια πρακτική του αποτελεί η διοργάνωση ανεξάρτητων εκθεσιακών events σύγχρονης τέχνης σε ιδιαίτερους χώρους με ιστορικότητα και σημειολογία. THE INDIAN TOMB / art installation

The co-working scheme of visual artists Eriphyli Veneri and Naira Stergiou COMOTIRIO curates two mixed-media sculptural installations at ΑΚ 38 entitled “The Indian Tomb”.

In 1959, German director Fritz Lang’s film “Das Indische Grabmal / The Indian Tomb” is released. In 1955, Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis writes the song “Ilissos”: what’s the name, what’s the name of the river, I love you, I love you (my little secret). On March 19, 1960, the indoor sports hall of Panathinaikos team at Alexandras Avenue is inaugurated, the first indoor hall ever constructed in Greece, commonly known as “The Indian Tomb”. On March 17, 461 AD, Saint Patrick dies having identified the shamrock with Trinity. In the 1st century the shamrock gets associated with luck and Panathinaikos adopts it as its emblem since 1918.

In 2024, Ilissos still flows under the Avenue, with greens, clovers and birds flooding its well-buried riverbed. In the same year and in frantic Bollywood rhythms, COMOTIRIO, committed in highlighting places of historical interest by pairing them with artistic events, interacts with the urban legend of the indoor stadium and the wider area. Two mixed-media sculptural installations reveal unseeable elements of the space, which, as an underground stadium -narrow, with multiple levels and steep descending stairs- was nicknamed as “The Indian Tomb” because it reminded of the homonymous film’s catacomb scenes.

COMOTIRIO is the co-working scheme of visual artists Eriphyli Veneri and Naira Stergiou. The scheme revolves around the thematics of staged experience, fiction, beautification and Beauty.
