OKAPI DESIGN AN INNOVATIVE TRIANGULAR LIGHTING SUITABLE FOR CORNERS

The lighting design duo of Okapi, which has recently shown some exceptionally fresh projects, comes back with an idea that admittedly hasn`t found yet a broad design scope and application: Rania Maha and Mariza Galani designed an outdoor triangular wall lighting, with right angle emission, which renders it suitable for building corners.

This innovative luminaire creates original and highly impressive angular light effects giving a touch of style to walls and facades, something quite unusual in architectural lighting design and manufacture. It`s the first time that a Greek piece of design is positioned on a mass production line by major companies, while it has already been exhibited in the Light & Building in Frankfurt, Germany.

In Okapi`s words:
Myia is an architectural tool that lights up the volumes in a smoothly, gradient way, introduces a completely new possibility to highlight outdoor and indoor facades: Thanks to its triangular shape and silk-screened optic, its light beam starts from the corner of the building producing a 90° angle, illuminating both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Myia is flexible enough to fit both classic architecture and contemporary minimal styles, becoming as one with the building with a new impressive effect.
