NEON LIGHTING INSTRUMENTS BY FAYE TSAKALIDES PRESENTED AT THE OPENING OF STEELCASE SHOWROOM IN ATHENS

Architect and designer Faye Tsakalides in cooperation with the online magazine Archisearch.gr and its publisher Vassilis Bartzokas will present pieces from the series “Neon lighting Instruments“ during the opening of the new Steelcase Showroom in Greece.

 

“Neon Lighting Instruments “ series has been presented in the New York Design Weeek for two consecutive years, selected after competition. In 2015 it was housed at Wanted Design -The Tunnel, Terminal Stores, Chelsea 269 11th Avenue NYC and in 2016 moved to the Javits Center during the course of international International Contemporary Furniture Fair ICFF 2016, Manhattan NYC.

 

Light Instruments comprise simplified sculptural forms of neon, functioning just as the overall design attitude of Faye Tsakalides, on the fine line between “functional art “ and “ sculptural design“. Breaking boundaries, trampling them, neglecting the current trends and fashion, the series attempts to redefine the meaning of  “functional“ art creating lighting sets featuring elements such as geometry, purity, the tenderness of fragility, transparency, linear and curved fixtures sizes.

 

Handcrafted glass is converted into a source of neon light, transfering the user at a colour- and light-therapeutic journey of personal health, and wellness, improving the physical condition through light.

H αρχιτέκτονας και designer Φαίη Τσακαλίδου σε συνεργασία με το ηλεκτρονικό περιοδικό Archisearch και τον Βασίλη Μπαρτζώκα θα παρουσιάσει κομμάτια από τη σειρά “Neon lighting Instruments“ – “Οργανα φωτός Νέον“ κατά την διάρκεια των εγκαινίων των νέων γραφείων της Steelcase στην Ελλάδα.

 

Η σειρά “Neon lighting instruments “ παρουσιάστηκε κατόπιν διαγωνισμού, 2 συνεχόμενες χρονιές στην Εβδομάδα Design της Νέας Υόρκης.  Στεγάστηκε το 2015 στο Wanted Design -The Tunnel, Terminal Stores, Chelsea 269 11th Avenue NYC- του φημισμένου Chelsea Gallery District Manhattan για να μεταφερθεί το 2016 στο Javits Center κατα τη διάρκεια της διεθνής International Contemporary Furniture Fair ICFF 2016, Manhattan NYC.

 

Τα “όργανα φωτός“, απλουστευμένες γλυπτικές μορφές απο νέον, λειτουργούν όπως και η ευρύτερη σχεδιαστική κατεύθυνση της Φαίης Τσακαλίδου στη λεπτή διαχωριστική γραμμή μεταξύ “λειτουργικής τέχνης“ και “γλυπτικού σχεδιασμού“. Καταργώντας τα όρια, καταπατώντας τα, παραμελώντας τις εκάστοτε τάσεις και μόδα, προσπαθεί να επαναπροσδιορίσει την έννοια της “λειτουργικότητας“ στην Τέχνη δημιουργώντας φωτιστικά σύνολα με κύρια στοιχεία τη γεωμετρία, την καθαρότητα, την ευαισθησία της ευθραυστότητας, τη διαφάνεια, σε γραμμικά και καμπύλα φωτιστικά μεγέθη.

 

Χειροποίητο επεξεργασμένο γυαλί μετατρέπεται σε πηγή φωτός νέον, ταξιδεύοντας ταυτόχρονα τον χρήστη σ΄ένα χρωματοθεραπευτικό και φωτοθεραπευτικό ταξίδι προσωπικής υγείας, ευεξίας και βελτίωση της φυσικής του κατάστασης μέσα από το φως.
