New Hotel has been designed by renowned design duo the Campana Brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana, as their first hotel project, in conjunction with architectural students from the University of Thessaly. Throughout the property the brothers fuse old with the new, mixing modern design touches with themes from Athenian culture, as New Hotel strives to maintain links with the local neighbourhood wherever possible.

The Campana Brothers are famous for bespoke furniture created from everyday materials and have exhibited at the likes of the Design Museum in London.

Situated in the former Olympic Palace Hotel, New Hotel encompasses the heritage of its past by using recycled parts of the old hotel and reinterpreted local materials to create a complete work of art.

Their design edge can be seen everywhere in the hotel, where nothing has been wasted, and what may have been viewed as rubbish has been transformed into contemporary artwork.

A nod to the hotel’s past, New Hotel has maintained the black marble staircase and its typical 1940s solid-wood balustrade from the old “Olympic Palace Hotel” which once operated where New Hotel now stands.

Under the initiative of Yes! Hotels owner and renowned art collector Dakis Ioannou, and with the Brothers’ guidance, the University students and reused, recycled and reinterpreted local materials and culture, creating striking results. This includes using the old Olympic Palace sign to create innovative coffee tables, and a selection of forgotten everyday materials such as ageing fabric samples and rusty ladders, to transform the Scandinavian chair into an array of unique pieces.

YES! Hotels and its member New Hotel will support ESO Conference 2017 by offering accommodation to its renowned speakers!
