The apartment is located in a residential complex in the boundaries of Ioannina, Greece and was designed to host a three-member family. The plan of the apartment favors district separation of the functions of the residence, which is utilized to create a single day use space, where the living room, the dining room and the kitchen, as well as the vertical link to the loft area take place.
Architectural design focuses on creating a modern functional relaxing, spacious living area which serves the needs of the young family. Within the area of living room, there have been used contemporary materials, referred to industrial design, in a combination with cozy and “warm” elements, in an attempt to redefine the typical image of an apartment.
The main wall of the living room is covered with red brick. The use of materials, such as metal and wood in the staircase, the texture of exposed plaster which is used on the ceiling and the components of the fireplace, form a modern space, comfortable, vivid and modern, attracting users to relax and enjoy it. The above architectural details have been highlighted with the proper lighting. The “bright” side of the main space is dominated by white elements, which coupled with the wooden kitchen surfaces complement the scenery of “everyday” use.
The metal staircase with both “playful” and strictly geometric shapes seems to “levitate” and being integrated in the space, enhancing the value of simplicity in the use of forms and materials.
