Situated within the pedestrian historic centre of Messolonghi Sacred Town, BistrΩ aims to showcase the very best of Greek food & beverage produce next to the classic established international brands. The site occupies 65sqm indoor space with a mezzanine floor & 40sqm outdoor space with an entrance from the main pedestrian street as well as from the side lane.

Thingk was tasked with installing a new corner facade to create the bistro brand identity & to make a distinctive presence next to to the neighbouring shops & cafes. The facade consists of top curved timber doors that fold back to fully open the interior to the streets, inviting the outdoor to the inside which was a key element of the design. A classic pattern was adopted and has been used in different proportions for the design of the new staircase encasement, the suspended glass case, the mezzanine feature wall as well as on graphic design elements.

Entering the space, the 9m long bar is the focal point of the interior, leading to the tween banquette intimate seating on the rear. An all day cocktails & small plates marble counter with a bespoke ceiling suspended wine glass display with integrated bronze lights. At the rear wall of the bar, a double height shelving joinery with smoked mirror back and vertical integrated LED strip lighting is showcasing the BistrΩ drink & beverage collection. The existing spiral metal staircase to the mezzanine floor, was encased within a hand made patterned metal cage. The mezzanine floor internal facade features a wall of seamless laser cut patterned timber panels with inset bronze details & back lit wine bottles, offering an exceptional view to the customers and soft theatrical light to the interior.

The materials and pallets drew inspiration from French classic detailing, using chevron flooring, a restrained palette of dusty blue colour to the walls, black iron elements and bronze details to enhance a uncomplicated elegant atmosphere. Further reinforced by the pairing of classic round marble tables with a bronze edge detail and Thonet black chairs along with brown leather bar stools and banquettes. The gallery walls above the banquettes display artworks that draw inspiration from the shape of the circle, also found at the letter Ω of BistrΩ. Bespoke light fittings were installed throughout the interior & exterior of the establishment.
