Η Μαρίνα μεγαλώνει με τον αρχιτέκτονα πατέρα της σε μια μικρή παραθαλάσσια πόλη. Το ανθρώπινο είδος την απωθεί. Το παρατηρεί εξ αποστάσεως, μέσα από τους στίχους του Alan Vega των Suicide, τα ντοκιμαντέρ πάνω στη ζωή των θηλαστικών του Sir David Attenborough και τα μαθήματα σεξουαλικής αγωγής που της παραδίδει η μοναδική της φίλη, Μπέλλα.
Ένας ξένος φτάνει στην πόλη και την προκαλεί σε μονομαχία στο ποδοσφαιράκι, ενώ ο πατέρας της προετοιμάζει τελετουργικά την αναχώρησή του από τον 20ο αιώνα. Η Μαρίνα, ανάμεσα στους δυο άντρες, με την συνεργασία της Μπέλλας, ανακαλύπτει το θαυμαστό μυστήριο της πανίδας.
Το Attenberg, της Αθηνάς Τσαγγάρη, μετά την παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα που έκανε στη 67η Μπιενάλε της Βενετίας, αποσπώντας το Βραβείο Γυναικείας Ερμηνείας για την πρωταγωνίστριά της, Αριάν Λαμπέντ, και την πολύ σημαντική διάκριση του βραβείου «Λίνα Μαντζιακάπρε», συνεχίζει ακάθεκτο την πορεία του στα διεθνή φεστιβαλ έχοντας ήδη κερδίσει το βραβείο καλύτερης ταινίας στο Whistler Festival του Καναδά, τον Αργυρό Αλέξανδρο στο πρόσφατο φεστιβαλ Θεσσαλονίκης και τελευταία το βραβείο καλύτερης ερμηνείας για την Αριάν Λαμπέντ στο φεστιβάλ Premiers Plans στην Αngers.
Επίσης είναι η πρώτη ελληνική ταινία που συμμετείχε το στο φεστιβάλ του Σαντανς, στο παγκοσμίως διασημότερο φεστιβάλ ανεξάρτητου κινηματογράφου.
