From 8 to 25 of February, the City of Athens Arts Center will host the group art exhibition “The Condition of (Im)-Possibility: The Invaders”, which is supported by the City of Athens Culture, Sports and Youth Organization (OPANDA), curated by art historian and independent curator Dr. Eva Kekou.
The exhibition deals with the condition of infinite probabilities in an initially mathematical context, within which there are infinite new possibilities. It is a fact that the changes brought about by the events of recent years (pandemic COVID-19, military conflicts, natural disasters and climate change) have altered and sometimes intensified political, economic and social relations, giving them a new dimension. The theme of the exhibition is any new condition, event or incident that invades or can potentially invade our lives. A situation/context that is in progress and is unknown whether it will have an overall positive or negative connotation. Taking the nature of the transition that our time and our society is going through and the inability to define itself as a given, the exhibition aims to reflect and explore the nature of these changes and how they are perceived.
The exhibition features renowned artists such as: Chloe Akrithaki, Angelos Antonopoulos, Augustos Veinoglou, George Drivas, Peggy Kliafa, Christina Mitrentse, Panos Papadopoulos, Diamantis Sotiropoulos, Tolis Tatolas, Panos Charalambous, Thalia Chioti.
Performances
During the exhibition two art performances will take place. On Thursday, February 8th, day of the exhibition opening, a performance by Demosthenes Agrafiotis will be presented and on Saturday, February 24th, at 12:30 pm by Jennifer Nelson.
Guided tours
During the weekend, 24-25 of February, there will be guided tours for the public, in the presence of the artists, at 11:30 am.

Από τις 8 έως τις 25 Φεβρουαρίου το Κέντρο Τεχνών Δήμου Αθηναίων θα φιλοξενήσει την ομαδική εικαστική έκθεση “The Condition of (Im)-Possibility: The Invaders”, η οποία πραγματοποιείται με την υποστήριξη του Οργανισμού Πολιτισμού, Αθλητισμού και Νεολαίας Δήμου Αθηναίων (ΟΠΑΝΔΑ), σε επιμέλεια της ιστορικού τέχνης και ανεξάρτητης επιμελήτριας δρ. Εύας Κέκου.
Η έκθεση πραγματεύεται τη συνθήκη των άπειρων πιθανοτήτων σε ένα μαθηματικό αρχικά πλαίσιο, εντός του οποίου υπάρχουν άπειρες νέες δυνατότητες. Είναι δεδομένο ότι οι αλλαγές που επήλθαν από τις εξελίξεις των τελευταίων χρόνων (πανδημία COVID-19, πολεμικές συρράξεις, φυσικές καταστροφές και κλιματική αλλαγή) μετέβαλαν και εντατικοποίησαν κάποιες φορές τις πολιτικές, οικονομικές και κοινωνικές σχέσεις δίνοντας μία νέα διάσταση. Το θέμα της έκθεσης είναι κάθε νέα συνθήκη, γεγονός ή περιστατικό που εισβάλλει ή μπορεί να εισβάλει δυνητικά στη ζωή μας. Μία κατάσταση/συνθήκη που βρίσκεται σε εξέλιξη δε γνωρίζουμε αν θα έχει συνολικά ένα θετικό ή αρνητικό πρόσημο. Δεδομένου του χαρακτήρα μετάβασης που διέρχεται η εποχή μας αλλά και η κοινωνία μας και της αδυναμίας να αυτοπροσδιοριστεί, η έκθεση στοχεύει να προβληματίσει αλλά και να διερευνήσει το χαρακτήρα αυτών των μεταβολών και το πώς γίνονται αντιληπτές.
Στην έκθεση συμμετέχουν διακεκριμένοι καλλιτέχνες όπως οι Χλόη Ακριθάκη, Άγγελος Αντωνόπουλος, Αύγουστος Βεϊνόγλου, Γιώργος Δρίβας, Πέγκυ Κλιάφα, Χριστίνα Μήτρεντσε, Πάνος Παπαδόπουλος, Διαμαντής Σωτηρόπουλος, Τόλης Τατόλας, Πάνος Χαραλάμπους και Θάλεια Χιώτη.
Performances
Κατά τη διάρκεια της έκθεσης θα πραγματοποιηθούν δύο εικαστικές performances.
Την Πέμπτη 8 Φεβρουαρίου, ημέρα των εγκαινίων της έκθεσης, θα παρουσιαστεί performance από τον Δημοσθένη Αγραφιώτη και το Σάββατο 24 Φεβρουαρίου στις 12:30 από την Jennifer Nelson.
Ξεναγήσεις
Το Σαββατοκύριακο 24 και 25 Φεβρουαρίου, θα πραγματοποιηθούν ξεναγήσεις για το κοινό παρουσία των καλλιτεχνών στις 11:30.
