Along the eastern coastline of Paros, in the Tserdakia area – surrounded by vineyards, fruit trees, lavender and jasmine – lays a holiday residence that has become a haven for modern art. The summer residence came to life after the owner fell in love with the site and an incomplete skeleton that was originally designed by the architect Vazeos Petropoulos.
Following the plans and ideas of her friend Maria Demetriades, who is also an art lover and collector, they designed and completed the construction of the house as an open space and a home for contemporary art.
The residence consists of two buildings. In the main building, the owner’s quarters are on the ground floor where the entrance opens onto a kitchen, dining area and a living room that features a large torch-cut steel sofa by the sculptor Bernar Venet and a sculpture by the American artist Frank Stella.
The first floor hosts the guest bedrooms and commands views of the pool and sea. Works of art drawings and objects by renowned artists featured throughout the house, highlighting the artistic spirit of its owners.
The living room’s windows open onto an outdoor dining area shaded by a pergola, as well as an extensive marble terrace surrounding a swimming pool that includes a fountain designed by the Greek artist Nakis Tastsioglou. Two large-scale metal sculptures adorn the pool. There is a steel sculpture by Bernar Venet as well as a sculpture by Takis, which depicts a bouquet.
There is also a very large concrete and white painted sofa by the pool, which overlooks the sea and serves as a lounging area at sunset.
A second house on the property hosts further guest quarters, as well as a staff apartment and an artists’ workshop. The grounds around the two houses are landscaped and feature a Greek theatre that welcomes musicians, actors or dancers, and faces the sea.

Ανάμεσα στα ανατολικά παράλια της Πάρου, στην περιοχή Τσερδάκια, που περιβάλλεται από αμπελώ- νες, οπωροφόρα δέντρα, λεβάντες και γιασεμιά ξεχωρίζει μια εξοχική κατοικία που έχει μετατραπεί σε καταφύγιο για τη σύγχρονη τέχνη. Το 2011 οι σημερινοί ιδιοκτήτες αγόρασαν το κτίσμα στη φάση του σκελετού – σχεδιασμένο από τον αρχιτέκτονα Βαζαίο Πετρόπουλο – και με τη βοήθεια της Μαρίας Δημητριάδη, λάτρη επίσης της τέχνης και συλλέκτη, σχεδίασαν και ολοκλήρωσαν την κατασκευή της κατοικίας ως έναν ανοιχτό χώρο, έναν “εκθεσιακό χώρο” για τη σύγχρονη τέχνη.
Η κατοικία αποτελείται από δύο κτίρια. Στο κεντρικό κτίριο η είσοδος, στο ισόγειο, ανοίγει σε έναν ενιαίο χώρο με κουζίνα, τραπεζαρία και σαλόνι με μεγάλο μεταλλικό καναπέ του γλύπτη Bernar Venet και ένα γλυπτό του Αμερικάνου καλλιτέχνη Frank Stella. Ο πρώτος όροφος φιλοξενεί τα υπνοδωμάτια των καλεσμένων με θέα στην πισίνα και τη θάλασσα.
Έργα τέχνης, σχέδια και αντικείμενα φημισμένων καλλιτεχνών εκτίθενται σε όλους τους χώρους της κατοικίας και ενισχύουν το καλλιτεχνικό πνεύμα των ιδιοκτητών. Τα παράθυρα του σαλονιού ανοίγουν σε μια υπαίθρια τραπεζαρία που σκιάζεται από πέργκολα και στην εκτεταμένη μαρμάρινη βεράντα που αγκαλιάζει την πισίνα, στην οποία δεσπόζει ένα σιντριβάνι του Έλληνα καλλιτέχνη Νάκη Ταστσιόγλου. Δύο μεταλλικά γλυπτά μεγάλης κλίμακας, ένα από χάλυβα του Bernar Venet καθώς και ένα του Τάκη, το οποίο απεικονίζει ένα μπουκέτο, κοσμούν τη βεράντα.
Δίπλα στην πισίνα ένας μεγάλος χτιστός καναπές με θέα τη θάλασσα και το ηλιοβασίλεμα, χρησιμεύει ως σημείο χαλάρωσης. Κοντά στην κυρίως κατοικία το δεύτερο κτίριο φιλοξενεί περαιτέρω δωμάτια για επισκέπτες, ένα διαμέρισμα προσωπικού, καθώς και ένα καλλιτεχνικό εργαστήριο. Στον περιβάλλοντα χώρο ανάμεσα από τα δύο ένα ελληνικό θέατρο, με θέα στη θάλασσα, “υποδέχεται” μουσικούς, ηθοποιούς και χορευτές.
