A CEMENT LIGHTING BY LE CORBUSIER WILL BE REISSUED BY NEMO

Italian lighting design firm, Nemo, has announced that Borne Béton lamp, a luminaire originally designed by Le Corbusier in 1953, will be released again by the company. The lamp was intented to be placed as a lighting device in the corridors of Unité d`habitation de Marseille. The head of design Valentina Folli stated that ``it is an incredible lamp, summarising all Le Corbusier`s ideals regarding lighting: a pure yet functional volume, whose shape is plastic but efficient thanks to its massive concrete reflector shape”.

The company will reissue the lighting in two sizes, a large one for exterior use and a smaller one for indoor-desktop purposes, while their prices will be unveiled at the official commercial launch this May. Nemo revealed its plans for the cement lapm at Milan Design Week that took place from the 12th to 17th of April.
