WEdid-ID is a design collaborative and consultancy studio based in Cyprus with involvement in wide aspects of Industrial Design, Product Design, Furniture and Interiors. Without a doubt our main interest is in designing products to be manufactured.
The two main principals are Constantinos Economides and Brian Ward. Constantinos is Cypriot and Brian is Californian. Both coming from two different, yet similar cultures, they attended the same Industrial Design Masters degree course at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. “We found that we complimented each other’s skills and decided to work together.”
WEdid-ID was asked to represent Cyprus Design, showing at the Palermo Design week 2009 alongside 40 of the top young designers from all over Europe. It was truly an honor to be considered.
Currently, WEdid-ID is seeking to produce Designs and products for our in-house label and also work with industry locally and globally providing designs for manufacture. As well, WEdid-ID studio wishes to promote design in Cyprus, as well as promote Cyprus Design culture to the world. Many if not all projects utilize local craftsmen, factories and materials from Cyprus in development of the initial designs.

Archisearch - The object which has been featured at the Green Design Festival in Athens in September 2010, is to show sustainable design products, but as Designers we must not just think of the materials but the sustainability of the processes we use to make the pieces.material: recycled aluminium / dimensions: 48 x 40 x 44 cm ( width x depth x height ) / year: 2010THE OBJECT WHICH HAS BEEN FEATURED AT THE GREEN DESIGN FESTIVAL IN ATHENS IN SEPTEMBER 2010, IS TO SHOW SUSTAINABLE DESIGN PRODUCTS, BUT AS DESIGNERS WE MUST NOT JUST THINK OF THE MATERIALS BUT THE SUSTAINABILITY OF THE PROCESSES WE USE TO MAKE THE PIECES.MATERIAL: RECYCLED ALUMINIUM / DIMENSIONS: 48 X 40 X 44 CM ( WIDTH X DEPTH X HEIGHT ) / YEAR: 2010
Archisearch - If the viewer uses and observes the object from varying angles, visual interactions are created between the different forms such as reflections, retractions and morphing. In a sense the object is constantly recycling its form. IF THE VIEWER USES AND OBSERVES THE OBJECT FROM VARYING ANGLES, VISUAL INTERACTIONS ARE CREATED BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT FORMS SUCH AS REFLECTIONS, RETRACTIONS AND MORPHING. IN A SENSE THE OBJECT IS CONSTANTLY RECYCLING ITS FORM.
Archisearch - Polistools: A piece of furniture, more specifically a stool has been created from one piece of recyclable metal, in a bent polygonal shape. The object retains an overall symmetry with perceptual hints of a symmetrical artifact. This means is that the object is open and closed at the same time.POLISTOOLS: A PIECE OF FURNITURE, MORE SPECIFICALLY A STOOL HAS BEEN CREATED FROM ONE PIECE OF RECYCLABLE METAL, IN A BENT POLYGONAL SHAPE. THE OBJECT RETAINS AN OVERALL SYMMETRY WITH PERCEPTUAL HINTS OF A SYMMETRICAL ARTIFACT. THIS MEANS IS THAT THE OBJECT IS OPEN AND CLOSED AT THE SAME TIME.
Archisearch - As well, the designers realized that apart from placing a tree in the dwelling area, an appropriate form, both aesthetically and functionally was crucial in this products development.Relationships of : Materials, proportions, angles were extensively explored and refined.AS WELL, THE DESIGNERS REALIZED THAT APART FROM PLACING A TREE IN THE DWELLING AREA, AN APPROPRIATE FORM, BOTH AESTHETICALLY AND FUNCTIONALLY WAS CRUCIAL IN THIS PRODUCTS DEVELOPMENT.RELATIONSHIPS OF : MATERIALS, PROPORTIONS, ANGLES WERE EXTENSIVELY EXPLORED AND REFINED.
Archisearch - Photos were taken of the tree from 2 angles, a 3D object and created a flat reference to it’s 3dimensionality. PHOTOS WERE TAKEN OF THE TREE FROM 2 ANGLES, A 3D OBJECT AND CREATED A FLAT REFERENCE TO IT€?S 3DIMENSIONALITY.
