THE POLISH DESIGN STUDIO TABANDA PRESENT THE DIAGO CHAIR AT THE DMY BERLIN DESIGN FESTIVAL

DIAGO means diagonal! Some say that creating a chair is a designer’s ultimate challenge. For us it meant our heads were steaming with ideas and solutions. One thing is certain – we are truly proud of DIAGO! When coming up with DIAGO we decided to go beyond our plywood world. We allowed for Japanese origami influences and let loose a set of lines and planes that could make any Antwerpian diamond cutter proud. It never gets boring! We have hired an orchestra of colours, conducted by professional painters. You can choose sunny yellow, pastel blue, mint green, coral red, white gray, blue-gray and graphite gray.

MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGY:Seating: 2mm aluminium sheet, numerically cut and shaped, hand finished, powder coated (structural matt in seven colours). Supports: birch plywood with oak veneer, numerically cut, hand finished and oiled;
elements connected with four bolts; the product is certified for public and housing building use.

Tabanda is not only three designers, it is also our products. The ones that we have created so far have become full-fledged members of our team and very often hint us towards new ideas. This means that all projects have a common factor – on one side they are modern, on the other – they share a minimal design. Additionally, in each piece we have hidden elements inspired by nature – try to find them! We have given undervalued materials like plywood a second chance, thus breaking common production stereotypes. Equipped with imagination, a CNC cutter and handicraft skills we can come up with any three dimensional form! We design and produce cool things. Ideas sprout in our heads like spring tulips and tug at our trouser-leg begging for implementation. That is why functional forms are only a part of our field of interest. We execute a lot of ideas throughout private and commercial interiors, installations and various urban events. We embark on such adventures and regularly report them in our ACTIVITIES section. Write to us – there is always a lot going on in Tabanda!
