The material is PET fibers. A percentage of the product comes from recycled plastic bottles, which are granulated, heated and blown like little fibers that are subsequently dyed. The fibers are worked together like mats, which can be pressed over heat-influenced forms that enables the mate- rial to maintain it’s shape.

Mika Tolvanen on the design “I wanted the basket to have a non-obtrusive nature. Polymer felt combined with a soft form give the basket a friendly appearance. The name Restore is inspired by the fact that baskets are made of recycled PET bottles.” Mika Tolvanen is part of the Finnish Rehti Design group. After graduating from the Royal College of Art with a Master in design in 2001, Mika established his own design office in Helsinki. He has since worked with some of the world’s top designers and manufacturers.
