ECOWEEK PRISHTINA 2014 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE & SUSTAINABLE DESIGN WORKSHOPS 12-19OCTOBER 2014 PRISHTINA KOSOVO SUSTAINABILITY & GREEN ARCHITECTURE

The nongovernmental organization ECOciety, in cooperation with Municipality of Prishtina and Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, is organizing ECOWEEK Prishtina 2014 International Conference & Sustainable Design Workshops. This event will be held from 12th to 19th of October 2014 in Modelarium – Faculty of Architecture in Prishtina. ECOWEEK is a nongovernmental organization concerned with the education and raise of awareness on environmental issues, and promoting principles of sustainability. Initially it was established in Greece in 2005, while today it has a broad network of international architects, landscape architects, designers and engineers spread in more than 40 countries around the world, with Prishtina recently also being part of it. This event, organized for the first time in Prishtina, aims to gather local and international students and professionals to exchange “green” ideas and building techniques. The purpose of this initiative is to present the sustainability concepts that should be applied for the protection of environment.
 
The ECOWEEK Conference includes lectures and discussions on sustainable design. Among the lecturers are the famous architects, such as Rusty Smith, Francoise-Helene Jourda, Thomas Doxiadis, Maciej Siuda & Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez, Ado Franchni, MariaLuisa Palumbo, ProstoRož, Përparim Rama, Gëzim Paçarizi, Ilir Gjinolli and REC Kosovo. Nearly 150 young professionals from Kosovo and abroad will work together in ECOWEEK Workshops to address some of Prishtina’s challenges in architecture and urbanism. The workshops will be held inside studios, while the interventions will be done in some of the open spaces in the city. Such “green” interventions have also been successfully implemented in other countries, such as Denmark, Greece, Italy, Israel, Brazil, Sweden, China, United Kingdom, Spain, Serbia, Turkey and Poland. Projects deriving from the workshops will be exposed to the public for five days, and later will be given to the Municipality of Prishtina, as an ECOWEEK partner, with the purpose of their future implementation.
Anyone interested to be part of these workshops and interventions in Prishtina, can apply through the ECOWEEK registration form till 5th of October. Application of the students of University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” is free of charge, for the first time in the ECOWEEK history.
