A monolithic grey building located in Kifissia, Athens is being transformed by R.C.TECH architecture team in order to host the needs of the Storage and Distribution Centre of Seneka Logistics S.A.. The clean lines and the colours of the design align with the building programme while prioritize the functionality of the space.

This four-storey, 5700m2 building, which is embedded in a 4063m2 plot in the municipality of Kifissia, houses the Storage and Distribution Centre of Seneka Logistics S.A.

Starting point of the design process was the optimal placement of the massive robotic logistics system, which is crucial for the company’s operation, in a large building shell.

The building is conceived as a monolithic gray mass that is interrupted by a white balcony on the second floor, dividing the structure into two nearly equal parts and distinguishing the different functions inside.

The exterior white, shading system of the southern and western façade creates a homogeneous second skin that hides the complexity of the required openings.

The only exception to the white and gray elements is the yellow colour of the fire escape staircase and the main entrance of the building.

The clean lines of the design fully align with the building programme and prioritize the functionality of the space.

Specifically, the basement includes MEP and storage spaces, a loading area, and a parking lot.

On the ground floor, there is the main entrance and reception of the building, a cashier counter and an additional loading bay for bigger trucks. It is also the level where the automated robotic system is based.

The first-floor hosts auxiliary spaces and a refrigerated room that partially extends to the second floor.

On the second floor, there are also storage spaces and non-automated stations for collecting and packaging goods, mainly for exports and returns.

Finally, the third floor accommodates the office spaces that are required for the operation of the Storage and Distribution Centre.
