Mimosa Brunch, by interior design studio Auñón Cabrera and architect Myriam Osca Meliá, emerges as a new dining destination on the Mediterranean coast of southeastern Spain, where material warmth meets tactile design. Defined by a handcrafted clay lattice by Maora Ceramic that filters light and shapes atmosphere, the project establishes a strong visual and architectural identity rooted in material honesty and artisanal craftsmanship. Natural textures, bespoke furnishings, and seamless indoor-outdoor continuity create an experience centred on food ritual.

Mimosa Brunch, introduces a new spatial narrative to the Calpe coastline—one that elevates the ritual of brunch through tactility, material authenticity, and a distinctly Mediterranean sensibility.

Located just steps from the sea, the project unfolds as an exercise in atmospheric architecture, where light, texture, and proportion are orchestrated to cultivate a profound sense of calm and permanence.

Set within an area currently undergoing an aesthetic and cultural renewal, Mimosa Brunch responds to an increasing demand for hospitality spaces with a strong architectural identity.

The dining venue has rapidly emerged as a social destination for a design-conscious audience seeking spatial experience as an extension of everyday ritual.

The clay lattice as a narrative anchor

At the core of the project lies a handcrafted clay lattice by Maora Ceramic, functioning as both the conceptual and tactile anchor of the interior.

Far beyond a simple partition, the porous ceramic structure choreographs the movement of light and shadow throughout the space, generating an ever-changing atmospheric depth and visual rhythm.

Its irregular geometry and earthy tactility evoke vernacular Mediterranean construction methods while reinterpreting them through a contemporary architectural language.

The handcrafted quality of the lattice preserves the subtle traces of the maker’s hand, establishing an honest material dialogue that imbues the space with warmth, intimacy, and a rare sense of permanence. Through this intervention, the project reinforces architecture’s capacity to communicate emotion through texture, imperfection, and material authenticity.

Blurring the boundaries between inside and outside

The spatial composition—comprising a 69.20 m² interior and a generous 64.90 m² terrace—is conceived as a continuous architectural landscape where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors dissolve. Expansive openings frame and diffuse the Mediterranean light, allowing natural illumination to transform the atmosphere and spatial perception throughout the day.

The terrace operates as a seamless extension of the dining room, where bespoke pergolas and integrated planters—custom-designed by Auñón Cabrera and Myriam Osca—strengthen the dialogue between built form and the surrounding coastal environment.

The result is an architecture deeply attuned to its setting, where openness, lightness, and environmental continuity shape the user experience.

Material honesty and bespoke design

The material palette is intentionally restrained, privileging sensory richness over excess.

Earth-toned surfaces, warm timber elements, natural fibres, and handcrafted finishes coexist with marble tabletops.

This carefully balanced composition creates an atmosphere grounded in serenity, tactility, and material honesty.

Furniture selections combine pieces by brands such as Annook with bespoke interventions designed specifically for the project, including the reception desk and integrated terrace furnishings. Handcrafted ceramics by Tentful, together with a carefully curated layering of objects and styling details, further articulate María José Auñón Cabrera’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, artisanal processes, and enduring material quality.

Mimosa Brunch positions architecture as a medium for slowing down and reconnecting with the rhythms of coastal life.

Conceived as a pet-friendly sanctuary by the sea, the project demonstrates how light, matter, and handcrafted texture can converge to transform hospitality design into an architecture of pause, tactility, and everyday food ritual.
