Food, Drink, and Social Rituals at Greek Marble Ouzeri by tremeEats for Milan Design Week 2026

Greek Marble Ouzeri by tremeEats transforms the art gallery “Il Vicolo” into an immersive environment where Greek marble is experienced and rediscovered through food, drink, and social rituals. Presented in the Brera Design District on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, the installation reimagines marble not as a distant, monumental material, but as something tactile, immediate, and part of everyday life; a medium that facilitates shared experiences and communication.

Conceived by the design studio tremeEats, founded by architect Charis Tremetousiotis and co-founded by Nepheli Rigas, the installation draws on the spatial and social logic of the traditional Greek ouzeri: a place of shared plates, conversation, and friendly gathering.

Here, architecture and hospitality merge, and marble becomes an active participant in daily rituals: touched, used, and experienced.

At the center, a bar anchors the space, surrounded by modular marble elements that form walls, surfaces, and objects with clarity and restraint. The luminous interior, built from standardized marble tiles, highlights the material’s versatility and contemporary relevance, while revealing the full spectrum of Greek marble — from the renowned snow white of Thassos to the deep green of Tinos island — and extending the experience beyond the interior through a transparent façade.

The project creates a living environment of encounter and participation. Even the ritual of sharing ouzo (which turns white as water is added) echoes the multitudes contained within marble and reveals subtle connections between material, culture, and place.

This is an initiative celebrating Greek marble – a material carved by time and touched by countless hands across history, carries within it the glow of ancient light and the pulse of the earth itself. In its veins lie both memory and possibility—a material that holds the past yet unfolds endlessly into the present. Greek marble is a material in constant dialogue with time. Quarried from iconic landscapes and shaped over millions of years, it has defined civilizations, from the Parthenon to contemporary architecture.

Humanity’s history has been carved in marble, a material both humble and grand, encompassing our daily lives from the details in our living spaces to the intricate designs of landmarks that stand the test of time. Under the brand “Greek Marble | Then. Now. Forever.”, this legacy continues—an emblem of purity, strength, and timeless design. Whether in its raw form or transformed by craftsmanship and state of the art machinery, Greek marble carries the imprint of nature and human touch, evolving with each new creation. More than a material, it is a testament to endurance and reinvention, a bridge between past and future, forever in motion.

This project is supported by Enterprise Greece in collaboration with the Greek Marble Association, as part of a strategic initiative to promote Greek marble internationally. The initiative includes the development of the brand “GREEK MARBLE | Then. Now. Forever.” and a series of activations designed to showcase the unique qualities and strength of the Greek marble industry.

Enterprise Greece, a Société Anonyme (SA) supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is responsible for attracting foreign direct investment and promoting Greek exports worldwide. The Greek Marble Association represents companies involved in the quarrying, processing, and trade of natural Greek marble. Its mission is to promote Greek marble internationally, support the development of the marble sector, and strengthen cooperation among its member companies. First introduced in 2022 by Enterprise Greece in collaboration with the Greek Marble Association, the comprehensive brand identity for Greek marble continues to strengthen its global recognition and market presence. The initiative now returns for a second year at the Fuorisalone during Milan Design Week.

The installation is made possible thanks also to the support of leading Greek marble producers and exporters, listed alphabetically: CrystalMar, Delta Marble, Dionyssomarble, FHL I. Kiriakidis, Iktinos Hellas, John Papagiannoulis Bros, Marble Sachanas, Marmyk Iliopoulos, and Pavlidis Marble.

This pop-up space has been realized with the support of Enterprise Greece and the Greek Marble Association, and through the collaboration of leading Greek marble companies. It showcases the diversity of Greek marble—its colors, textures, and geological identities—offering a glimpse into the material’s design potential.

Beyond the material itself, the companies that quarry, process, and refine Greek marble bring decades of expertise and technical knowledge, making them trusted partners for projects of the highest standards.
