Rooted in Larnaca, Cyprus yet strongly influenced by Mexican architecture, HOMA House stands monolithic, grounded and deeply earthy – representative of HOMA Studio Architects’ mindset.

Drawing references from Mexican domestic architecture, the house unfolds as an inward-facing design oriented towards an elongated, rectangular courtyard featuring blind walls with a few, curated openings to the outside world.
The layout’s hierarchy of spaces follows the Mexican tradition as well travelling the dweller from the public realm of the street, through a both welcoming and mysterious entrance, to the semi-private gathering spaces of everyday life, such as the patio and living areas, and ultimately to the most private and delicate domestic spaces accommodating rest, contemplation and sleep.
HOMA House’s layout delivers layered spaces blurring inside and outside through arcades and a long corridor culminating in a veranda that binds the whole.
Sandy beige hued outside and terracotta pinkish inside, the house is born through natural materials such as clay tiles, microcement flooring, marble and stucco blended with handcrafted details and techniques.
Distinctive of this introverted home design, the central courtyard softens the robust architecture by integrating nature through the use of water and vegetation thus creating a microclimate. Culturally meaningful and highly expressive, the patio works as a social and climatic buffer hosting the communal life of the family, on the one hand, and ensuring light, ventilation and greenery, on the other.
Geometrically bold with a serene inner life guided by the interplay of shadow and light, HOMA House is a shelter to body, mind and soul.
