FAI is a restaurant in Veroia, designed by Chrysanthi Karta, centered on the ritual of gathering around food. A quiet architectural language unfolds through soft curves and smooth transitions, while classic bentwood tavern chairs and marble tabletops shape a familiar environment. At its core, a semi-open kitchen reinforces dining as a performative act, connecting preparation with the enjoyment of food.
FAI project is articulated through a restrained architectural language centered on simplicity, light, and the spatial presence of a semi-open kitchen. Its name derives from the Greek word «ΦΑΙ», meaning “food” or “to eat”, reflecting a direct and unembellished philosophy focused on the essential act of sharing a meal.
Within a regional context where dining spaces often lean towards decorative or traditional expressions, FAI introduces a quieter, more introspective approach.
Here, dining is conceived as a ritual—where light, materiality, and human presence define the experience.

The semi-open kitchen forms the core of the composition.
Positioned in visual continuity with the dining area, it operates both as a functional nucleus and as a subtle performative element, reinforcing a sense of transparency between preparation and consumption. The interior is shaped by soft curves and continuous geometries, guiding movement and defining surfaces.
Bentwood tavern chairs and marble tabletops introduce familiar references, grounding the space within a recognizable cultural framework.
The deliberate absence of decorative excess allows materials, daylight, and daily activity to become the primary spatial protagonists. Natural light enters through large openings, animating the terrazzo floor with shifting shadows throughout the day. In the evening, adjustable lighting sustains a warm, intimate atmosphere.
Through this calibrated balance, FAI proposes a contemporary yet familiar environment, where architecture quietly supports the everyday act of gathering around food within the urban fabric of Veroia.
