DJ and party organizer Stathis Tsitinis returned to Athens with his partner Peter Verhees so as to contribute to a more inclusive domestic landscape

After fourteen years split between London and Berlin, DJ and party organizer Stathis Tsitinis returned to Athens, with his partner Peter Verhees, aiming to contribute to a more contemporary and culturally attuned Athenian domestic landscape merging intuition with technical understanding. Together, Stathis and Peter are launching a new venture dedicated to discovering, reimagining and transforming long-abandoned office spaces into thoughtfully designed, sustainable homes.

Their first venture is transforming an 83-square-metre former office space in the centre of Metaxourgio, Athens, into Stathis and Peter’s own private residence. The renovation reimagines the rigid layout of the old workspace, opening it into an expansive, flowing home defined by refined materials, clean geometries and a calm, understated palette.

An 83-square-metre former office space in the centre of Metaxourgio, Athens, has been transformed into a minimalist residence that merges contemporary refinement with the neighborhood’s industrial character.

Flooded with natural light, the interior is organised around exposed concrete columns, linear geometries and a restrained palette punctuated by vivid ultramarine accents

Low anthracite seating and cylindrical sculptural elements anchor the main living space, creating a calm visual field within the dense urban setting. As the first interior design project and private residence of DJ and party organizer Stathis Tsitinis and his partner Peter Verhees, the home reflects their complementary roles: Stathis as the creative force behind and Peter as the manager of the construction process from concept to completion.

Artworks by Yorgos Sapountzis, Spyros Rennt and Alekos Fassianos introduce additional layers of colour, narrative and texture. Their placement along the apartment’s elongated planes reinforces the project’s gallery-like atmosphere.

The kitchen and private areas continue the material clarity of the main space, combining stainless steel, mineral surfaces and controlled lighting. All cabinetry and much of the furniture were produced by local Athenian craftsmen, grounding the project in the neighbourhood’s creative economy.

Balancing domestic intimacy with contemporary minimalism, the residence reflects Stathis’ creative world: structured yet free, vibrant yet serene—a personal sanctuary shaped by rhythm, materiality and urban energy.

The result is a compact but precisely articulated home that reflects the renewed cultural energy of Metaxourgio. Through its combination of minimal forms, custom fabrication and a distinctly personal authorship, the residence contributes to a contemporary Athenian design vocabulary that is both expressive and quietly disciplined.

Stathis Tsitinis

Stathis Tsitinis originally studied Civil Engineering in Crete before moving to London, where a brief attempt at studying fashion evolved into a broader career across fashion, hospitality and eventually music. There he began DJing and organising parties, developing a distinct creative identity shaped by rhythm, atmosphere and community.

From a very young age, Stathis imagined becoming an architect or product designer, and his enduring fascination with architecture, design and art has continued to inform his work and aesthetic language. After fourteen years split between London and Berlin, he has now returned to Athens with his partner, Peter Verhees—whose construction experience in Belgium and the Netherlands complements Stathis’s creative background.

Together, they are launching a new venture dedicated to discovering, reimagining and transforming long-abandoned office spaces into thoughtfully designed, sustainable homes. Their work merges intuition with technical understanding, aiming to contribute to a more contemporary and culturally attuned Athenian domestic landscape.
