Μια σιωπηλή αρχιτεκτονική ανακαίνιση σε ένα αγροτικό σπίτι στο Ελληνικό Αργολίδας [υπό τους ήχους του Neil Young] | από την Τσαζή Γεωργία

Μέσα στο ήσυχο τοπίο του Ελληνικού, στην Αργολίδα, μια παραδοσιακή κατοικία της δεκαετίας του ’80 ανανεώνεται με ευαισθησία, μεταμορφώνοντας το άλλοτε πατρικό σπίτι σε ένα σύγχρονο καταφύγιο για τη νέα γενιά της οικογένειας. Η επέμβαση από την Τσαζή Γεωργία σεβάστηκε την ιστορία και τα υλικά της κατοικίας, εισάγοντας νέες λειτουργίες με διακριτικότητα και φροντίδα.

Ο βασικός στόχος της ανακαίνισης ήταν σαφής: να διατηρηθεί η μνήμη, αλλά να ανανεωθεί η εμπειρία.

Πολλά από τα έπιπλα και στοιχεία του σπιτιού, με συναισθηματική και πρακτική αξία, διατηρήθηκαν και εντάχθηκαν εκ νέου στον χώρο.

Η παλιά κουζίνα από ξύλο meranti ξηλώθηκε προσεκτικά, επανατοποθετήθηκε σε νέα διάταξη ώστε να εξυπηρετεί τις σύγχρονες ανάγκες, βάφτηκε και συμπληρώθηκε με νέα κομμάτια από εμφανές θαλασσινό κοντρα πλακέ.

Το νέο υλικό, με διαφορετική υφή και απόχρωση, ξεχωρίζει χωρίς να συγκρούεται, δημιουργώντας μια ήρεμη συνύπαρξη παλαιού και νέου.

Η ίδια γλώσσα υλικών και αισθητικής συνεχίζεται και στο μπάνιο και την τραπεζαρία, όπου σχεδιάστηκαν νέα έπιπλα από το ίδιο κόντρα πλακέ εδραιώνοντας μια συνολική ενοποίηση του χώρου.

Ξεχωριστή θέση στην παρέμβαση κατέχει το τζάκι, το οποίο επανασχεδιάστηκε ώστε να γίνει ενεργειακό, χωρίς να χάσει τον παραδοσιακό του χαρακτήρα.

Με απλές γεωμετρικές γραμμές και φυσικούς χρωματισμούς, τοποθετείται ξανά στο επίκεντρο της καθημερινής ζωής ως λειτουργική εστία αλλά και συναισθηματικός άξονας.

Η αρχιτεκτονική προσέγγιση χαρακτηρίζεται από αυτοσυγκράτηση και ακρίβεια. Οι δομικές αλλαγές ήταν ελάχιστες, επιτρέποντας στο σπίτι να διατηρήσει τη γνώριμη ροή και διάταξή του.

Το αποτέλεσμα είναι ένας χώρος που υποδέχεται τις νέες ανάγκες της οικογένειας χωρίς να απορρίπτει το παρελθόν — ένας χώρος λειτουργικός, οικείος και διακριτικά ανανεωμένος.

Μέσα από αυτή τη σιωπηλή ανανέωση, η κατοικία παραμένει αναγνωρίσιμη, οικεία — αλλά πλέον αναπνέει πιο ελεύθερα, λειτουργεί πιο έξυπνα και υποδέχεται ένα νέο κεφάλαιο ζωής με διακριτική κομψότητα.

Τις ώρες του σχεδιασμού έπαιζε το τραγούδι του Neil Young, Between the Lines of Age (Journey through the Past). Τυχαία, η πρώτη λήψη της φωτογράφισης ήταν η εικόνα της παλιάς κουζίνας μέσα από το παράθυρο.

Nestled in the quiet landscape of Elliniko, Argolis, a humble rural house from the 1980′ s has been thoughtfully transformed by architect Georgia Tsazi into a renewed family retreat. Once the home of the clients’ parents, the residence is now reimagined as a contemporary dwelling for the next generation, blending functionality with affectionate respect for the past.

The guiding principle of the renovation was clear: preserve the memory, update the experience.

Rather than erasing the character of the original home, Tsazi worked closely with the existing materials and furnishings—many of which held both emotional and practical value. At the heart of this process was the original meranti wood kitchen, a warm centerpiece of the home that was carefully dismantled, repurposed, and reassembled in a new configuration to better serve today’s needs. The cabinets were repainted and subtly complemented with new elements crafted from exposed plywood—distinct in tone and texture, yet in dialogue with the old.

This gentle tension between preservation and intervention carries through the rest of the space. In the bathroom and dining area, new built-in furniture was designed using the same plywood material, creating visual cohesion while allowing the new additions to be clearly legible as contemporary insertions.

A major focal point of the renovation is the fireplace, which was completely redesigned to become energy-efficient, without losing its traditional village identity. Clad in soft earthy tones and simple geometric lines, it now anchors the living room as a functional and symbolic hearth.

Throughout the home, Tsazi’s approach favors restraint and precision over ostentation. Structural changes were kept minimal, allowing the house to retain its familiar layout and spatial rhythm. The result is a space where new memories can unfold naturally, layered over the traces of the past.

In this quiet reinvention, the home remains recognizably itself—only now, it breathes a little easier, functions a little smarter, and welcomes a new chapter of family life with understated elegance.

During the design process, Neil Young’s Between the Lines of Age (Journey Through the Past) played in the background. Coincidentally, the first photo taken during the shoot was of the old kitchen, captured through the window.
