The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany (Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) is the most prestigious German award within the field of design. The aim of the award is to high- light the economic role of design and be conducive to the stan- ding of design in smaller and medium-sized companies.
In the categories Product Design and Communication Design up to five excellent achievements are awarded yearly in gold and silver. Furthermore, a design personality, a group of persons, or an organization can be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Design Award. On top of this, the category Young Talents is awarded. The Young Talents Award is endowed with the prize money of € 8.000.
