The project started from an idea that was born after a further in-depth analysis of my graduation thesis, the theme of which was the creation of a mixed-use building (Hotel, Spa etc.) situated in Finland, in an area characterized from an interesting geographic configuration where the correlation between natural and artificial become indissoluble. The object was to blend together anthropic and natural, both physically and symbolically creating a fertile symbiosis between them.

So this project is a concept study on a series of comfort and luxury Resort Units to prime locations for sightings the Northern Lights. Completely designed using HI-MACS® for a spectacular design, the dynamic continuity of the project focus on the mobility of the curved line. Thanks to the HI-MACS® thermoforming properties, versatility, inconspicuous jointing and ability to be used in various applications and functions, every element of the project has been designed as custom made.

The alternate of concave and convex, empty and full spaces creates an aggregate of shadings with the transition from brighter to darkness surfaces, a process that generates the form while get’s diffused in the space, and the sense of successive forms that penetrate one another enhance the tension of the space.
 
The wall flow and form the wardrobe, then changing directions, scales and speed becomes the kitchen, which after flowing furthermore gives place to the living room, then we have office desks, beds etc. So in the foreground are not the furniture’s elements themselves, but their continuous paths, not the forms in the synthetic substances but the components in their mutual interactions.
The curved line allows the formal expression, appearance and determination of the form, so creates an expressive form as the fluid surface contains in itself an aesthetic value without need of further elements; clean and elegant, plastic forms, in a perfect symbiosis with the organic natural forms.
 
The interior artificial lights, gently positioned in tune with the forms created with HI-MACS®, are inspired by the magnificent colors of the aurora borealis and the selection of the colors in each part can be moderated, while the intensity can be altered; lower values give the feeling of being in a cold night inside a protective warm cave. But the rooms are at the same time extroverted as from the partially glazed roof the view is projected on the sky so it is possible to admire the Northern Lights while eating, seating on the leaving room or laying in bed and it’s furthermore possible to relax in an exterior Jacuzzi under the stars.

The project is based on the use of HI-MACS®,  a solid surface material that can be moulded into any shape. It is widely used for architectural and interior applications, such as sculptural and high performance wall-cladding or kitchen, bathroom, furniture surfaces etc. , so i would like to thank HI-MACS® for the help and support.
