This new collaboration between Giner and Auñón Cabrera materializes in a residence that reframes Mediterranean domesticity through a disciplined, material-driven approach. Designed as a secondary home for a Dutch couple, the house is sited on a sloping plot with expansive sea views, immersed in the characteristic light and horizon of Spain’s Levantine coast.
The architectural strategy is defined by a composition of horizontal planes that follow the natural topography, organizing the project into three levels with a total built area of 234 square meters. The main floor, at 122.76 sqm, hosts the daytime living spaces; the upper floor, measuring 75.07 sqm, contains the private quarters; and the lower level, at 36.08 sqm, houses auxiliary spaces, storage, and a garage. These are complemented by more than 236 sqm of outdoor areas, including terraces, porches, and a 36 sqm swimming pool.
Rather than imposing itself on the site, the architecture settles into the landscape with a deliberate lightness, establishing a balanced dialogue with its surroundings.
This intent is articulated through a clear design strategy: the continuity of flooring materials from the interior to the exterior blurs the boundaries between built space and natural context.
Openings toward the sea are carefully calibrated, alternating between sheltered niches and panoramic views, responding equally to functional needs and privacy concerns.
Materiality forms the backbone of the project. Vertical surfaces clad in travertine create a dense, mineral reading of the space, while oak wood—used across custom millwork, wall cladding, and furniture—introduces warmth and tactile continuity.
The restrained palette reinforces a visual coherence that extends beyond ornamentation to define spatial experience.
Inside, the design language is pared-back and sensorial. Integrated, indirect lighting accentuates textures without drawing attention to itself, enhancing the overall atmosphere without disrupting the architectural integrity.
Every element adheres to the project’s logic: continuous flooring, honest materials, and a clearly defined spatial hierarchy.
This is a home that does not seek to assert an image, but rather to construct a way of living—through material, light, and geometry. A refined and grounded proposal in which architecture and interior design operate as a unified discipline, precisely responding to place, lifestyle, and temporality.
