ALE ESTUDIO redesign an apartment in Madrid as a continuous space, where diagonals are opened and the vertical play of the original architecture is highlighted.
The original building where this intervention takes place was designed by architect Luis Gutiérrez Soto. It is a unique structure located in the center of Madrid, composed of dwellings arranged over multiple staggered levels. The project is developed within one of these apartments — a home with a strong character, spread across three floors, featuring dual orientation and views both toward Parque del Oeste and the Royal Palace.
As with all our projects, we approached the design with a focus on sustainability and comfort, aiming to reduce energy consumption while enhancing the quality of life within the space.
In Casa de mis sueños (House of My Dreams), the existing structure allowed us to define spaces through level changes, creating broad, light-filled interiors.
Through the intervention, the home is transformed into a continuous space, where diagonals are opened and the vertical play of the original architecture can be fully appreciated.
By carefully listening to the needs of a family involved in the publishing world, we introduced new finishes, replaced the old railings with lighter ones to enhance the sense of openness, and added touches of yellow to highlight specific corners of the house.
Finally, a series of small but meaningful details turn this home into something truly unique — a porthole window that offers views of the park during a shower, an endless bookshelf for passionate readers, and a yellow path leading to a very special room.
